Summer of Strange: Leave No Word Obsolete

The strangest thing in the world of writing is by far the words. It's quite sad how many wonderfully odd words have been forgotten over the years.

Take scrabblement, for example. It is a word used to describe the "writing of a rambling character like that of a madman". Its last known use was in the 1700s, and it is now considered obsolete. However, when has that ever stopped people from using a word?

I went searching for a similar word more specific to authors, and I was not disappointed. Also last used around the 17th century, Cockalane is a word for a "story... which strays from one subject to another; a disconnected ramble." Not author-specific, but certainly a quality word that I will be using in the future.
